Set along the Yukon River on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, it’s known for its stunning landscapes, thriving arts community, and strong business spirit. With year-round access to nature, a focus on sustainability, and a growing, diverse population, Whitehorse is a remarkable place to live, work, and play.
Traditional Territory
The Whitehorse 2026 Arctic Winter Games are proudly hosted on the Traditional Territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. We honour their history, culture, and ongoing stewardship of this land, and invite visitors to learn more by exploring these Respectful Travel Guidelines.
Land Acknowledegment
We are honoured to host the 2026 Arctic Winter Games in Kwanlin, now known as Whitehorse, on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.
We are deeply grateful to call this place home. The rivers, mountains, and trails that surround us are woven into daily life, as are the teachings, stories, and leadership of the First Nations who have always cared for this land.
As we welcome the circumpolar North to Whitehorse, we do so with respect, gratitude, and a shared sense of belonging—for the land, for the people who shape it, and for the memories we will create together.
