The cheers are loud, the pins are trading hands, and the North is showing up in full force. The Arctic Winter Games are officially underway in Whitehorse! For Lotteries Yukon, being part of AWG 2026 during this incredible week is both exciting and deeply meaningful.

Last year marked a major milestone for us: 50 years of Lotteries Yukon giving back to Yukon communities. For five decades, lottery proceeds have stayed right here at home, supporting sport, arts, culture, and recreation across the territory. Seeing athletes compete, cultures celebrated, and communities come together during the Games is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

Whitehorse is no stranger to the Arctic Winter Games, and hosting for the seventh time feels extra special. All around the city, you can feel the energy as athletes push their limits, cultural performers share powerful traditions, volunteers welcome visitors like old friends, and families fill the stands with pride. These Games carry forward the original spirit first sparked in 1970 by celebrating culture, friendship, and connection across the circumpolar North, while also building a lasting legacy for Yukon’s future.

Lotteries Yukon is proud to support key parts of AWG 2026, including cultural programming, community engagement, sports equipment, and the ceremonies and gala. This support helps ensure athletes and cultural participants have what they need to shine on the field, on the stage, and everywhere in between.

From Old Crow to Watson Lake, Dawson City to Teslin, Yukoners are part of this moment whether you’re cheering in the arena, volunteering behind the scenes, or watching with friends and family back home.

And let’s talk pins! If you’ve been trading or collecting, keep your eye out for the Lotteries Yukon commemorative pin. With a limited number available, they’re a special Games keepsake. It’s been so much fun seeing them proudly worn on lanyards, jackets, and bags all over the Games, and it just might be the perfect addition to your collection!

At the heart of it all, our goal is simple: help more Yukoners play, create, and participate. This week, the Arctic Winter Games are bringing that goal to life in the best way possible.

So, soak it in, cheer loud, trade pins, and enjoy every moment. AWG 2026 is here, and Lotteries Yukon is proud to be part of the celebration!
